How do you compare price wise with pick-and-mix or pre packed bags?

Each confection is individually priced, and generally we find our sweets are cheaper (up to 30%) than pick and mix.. Pre packed bags and tubes vary in content size and usually work out more expensive than the same confections loose. Also [in our opinion] we pick only the best quality goods i.e. Maynard's, Lion's, Pascall's, Haribo, Clarnico (Mint Creams), Tilley's - to name but a few. Our goods are weighed and priced BEFORE we bag them, with pick-and-mix you pay for the weight of the bags!

Who are meridian confectionery? I've never heard of them yet all your jars have their name on?
In the late 80's we redesigned the interior of the shop. At the time we had about 120 different weigh out lines and we felt this should be cut down.

The shelving was designed to accommodate about 100 jars, such is our success at reducing our range we now have a selection of over 160 jars!

This is the reason for our own label, the only way to fit all the jars on our shelves is to have the narrow side facing the customer. Manufacturers place their labels on the widest side and they simply will not fit in!

East Grinstead is on the prime meridian line, about 75 meters east of our shop, hence the name.

You also have boxes with the meridian name on them, why?

As more and more manufacturers streamline their goods we were losing some old favourites. For example we could no longer obtain Peppermint Creams in boxes. This is the reason we designed our own, Sugar Almonds, Parisien Creams and Maple Brazils we can sell in our own boxes cheaper than we can buy pre packed! The other lines have followed through demand and we will be increasing our range as and when we succeed in extracting ingredients lists from the chocolatiers. Currently we box most of our weigh out chocolates while you wait, giving you the chance to choose your selection. Particular favourites are selections of all hard or all soft centered chocolates to replace those boxes no longer produced by 'the big boys'.
